Recommending a psi to answer your question is very difficult. It will vary depending on products/application. For example my Tekna I will use as low as 15psi for an orientation coat and up to 32 for clear. Why exactly do you want to know the psi? All the guns will be similar when spraying the same product, typically with only a few psi difference.

Is the sata 4000 rp 1.3 tip the same speed as my finishline 3 1.5 tip? Because my finishline came with 1.3 1.5 and a 1.8 and I like to use the 1.5 because with the 1.3 not enough fluid comes out so it sprays dry or the fan doesn’t open as wide.

I don’t think so,a finishline isn’t even on the same page no matter what size tip you have.If you are using omni products most of them are medium solids so I would get a 1.4 but check with your paint manufacturer TDS sheets for whatever product you are using. The only way you will know is to try one out and compare for yourself. If you dont have a jobber willing to let you try one contact sata ,they will put you in contact with the right person.

You are comparing 2 completely different guns. The Finish line is a very cheap gun, and its and HVLP. The 4000RP is top of the line and is a compliant style (RP, not an HVLP).

As Jayson said, see if you can try out the SATA. You should notice a huge different between the two

At work we use a Supernova with a 1.4 tip. I was in fear of a 1.4 tip but in hindsight it seems like you can get into MORE trouble with a 1.3 cause I always felt it was so slow that by going that slow you’d get a sag in an area prone to it. The 1.4 just seems to get everything wet and glossy but I’m imagining a lot of that is due to the awesome atomization of the Iwata Supernova. I have only sprayed a few things so far at this job but I haven’t used reducer one time with this tip but with a 1.3 I probably would have, and that can make it run and get solvent trap. Not an expert painter and do bodywork but was shockingly surprised how well my work has turned out with this gun.

Hey guys, I still have not bought a new gun. I know I know I am very picky. I have definitely made up my mind on a sata. I am not sure if I should get one gun for both clear and paint or I should get one gun for paint and one for clear. What are the advantages? If I only choose to get one is the rp better or hvlp for both bc/cc? If I choose to get two should I get one rp one hvlp? How noticeable is the difference in the way the rp sprays clear?

I like to keep clear coat guns separate from those I use for base or 2K. No chance of contamination of colour in the clear and gun stays cleaner. They’re also set up differently so I don’t have to change settings every use (although I do check them each time).

A lot of painters prefer the HVLP for base and the RP for clear is definitely better. I use RP or HP guns all the time but no mandated requirements here.

the FLG 3 can be fitted with the GTI transtech 110 air cap rather than its stock HVLP cap which is next to useless for clears and direct gloss applications ,the lock ring doesn’t fit but the actual air cap does

these convert from Air Spray ie compliant RP to LVLP just by changing the air cap

this is a rebranded for Nordson Bersch and Fratscher Optima Trifity but at a much lower price and includes the optional built in pressure gauge as standard
