Hi all,
I’ve been lurking on this site for while, and some good stuff is in here. So a little back ground on me, I used to work on computers across the street from a jobber and now I’m painting cars and doing some collision work. I sure do thank the people that have let me “practice” on their cars  This is a Subaru I did last week that hit a deer, new hood fixed fender.
So here’s the problem I’m having, I a little guy about 4’10” and I don’t have a ton of reach. What to you guys do to reach those hard places to paint, ie center of the roof without bumping the paint. How would do you get some more reach? Thanks and nice to meet you all.
Tom

Pretty much sums it up. I’m 5,5 and I learned the hard way to do the roofs of larger pickups separate. I use a step ladder and have to learn on the vehicle to reach the middle of the 3500’s

I do them separate as well. Bag the car and use a ladder. Move the ladder around as needed and lean on the side the best I can to get the centre. Take your time so you don’t fall or drop anything (ie: airhose) into the paint.

When replacing roof skins I will paint them first before the body techs glue them on, will normally have to touch them up in the jambs once they are done.
