Hi guys, I’m UK based and completed a 3 year apprenticeship in the mid 90’s working in a small but very high standard bodyshop in leeds,uk. Working my up to full resprays on marques such as Ferrari, Aston Martin,Lamborghini and lots more besides. I’m wanting to get back in the trade now and also wanting to emigrate to Saskatchewan, Canada as a painter.
How much have things changed in the last 10 years? I used to use 2pack Glasurit. I know the regulations have changed quite a bit, i.e. wate based etc. I’m pretty sure that after a short period of re-training i could pretty much pick up where i left off.
And if there are any bodymen in the Regina, Sask area I would love to hear from you. and any possible employment opportunities.

Many thanks

Russ

Hello and welcome to the site. I live in Calgary, Alberta.
Regina is an interesting area, have you been there before? The industry seems to be doing well, so it may be a good move for you. You will need to obtain Canadian Certification in order to work in this trade, but if you have proof of your experience it should be a very simple process. You can contact the Saskatchewan Apprenticeship Board for more information

Thank you for your reply. The reason we are choosing Regina is because we have family there and yes it does seem to be quite busy as far as the industry is concerned. I’m looking into getting references for my work experience and taking it from there.
Thanks again for the reply. Have a good day

Thanks, I would consider Saskatoon but the reason we are looking at Regina is because we have family there. If you have any leads in the Regina area though, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Cheers
