I realize this question has so many variables but I would like to get some expert info. My friend has a 1996 Ford Ranger that he wants painted with a single stage urethane enamel. I’ve already looked at and it doesn’t need any body work. The paint is just really faded. He has already bought all the materials and just needs me to paint it. Meaning I will just need to wet sand, seal it, mask it, and then paint it. With that said can anyone give me a rough estimate of what a professional body shop would charge to do that? Believe me I realize I’m not close to a pro. I plan on charging probably less than half what a pro. shop would charge being that I don’t have a paint booth and top of the line tools. Hey you get what you pay for! lol Thanks! Jack :rock
Think about what profit you want to make (or what the market you’re in will support), divide that by the amount of time you think it will take to do the work (this gives you your hourly rate for future jobs) and then add materials, shop costs (electricity and etc). Now you have your bid, enjoy.
