Sorry, but evercoat sands down to the oem primer (as long as its intact and not damaged) the only paint they fill over is the feather edge. However paint companies do not recommend that procedure. no one recommends filler over the mess you have there. and mixing kitty hair in with your bondo doesnt make it better

Kitty hair has no place in these types of repairs, or many others where people use it incorrectly. Like when using it for rot hole repair instead of using proper metalworking skills. If filler cracking is a concern, the metal is under tension and needs to be shrunk or stretched. You can’t just make things up as you go along and defy all recommended procedures.

Well what the hell am I supossed to do when they bring this crap to my shop with a 1000$ deductible and no money? I can either save the quarter and take the check, or let them WALK. There was a big dual A/C evaporatoer in behind the panel too. :S

Well on your web site you said you only saved him 1/2 of the deductible.
What you should have done is grind all the paint and old filler off, properly do the metal work. do your initial fill with short strand filler then finish off with regular filler, skim if needed with polyester putty.

Please dont do hack work, post it hear and expect sympathy or encouragement. We are mostly all Professionals that take pride in what we do or are people learning the ropes that want to learn and preform repairs properly

Ok thanks, next time I’ll make sure and grind all the way down to clean metal. I’ have used the short strand before too.

Know guys put me straight if I’m wrong but from this picture if you take of the bumper and rear light and carefully drill out the spot welds you can take the triangle panel which the light bolts to giving you loads of room to put bars, dollies and flap most of the dent and if needs be heat shrink if needs be or put sound pads in then reweld or spot the panel back in hidden by the light and rubbers, and but as little filler in as you ca. 🙂

I’ve only tried to pull out one really nasty dent, and I couldn’t get it out with my stud welder. I was just doing it as a practice piece, thankfully.

I probably would have tried to get a patch panel for something like this, unless you have access behind it to push it out real close.

kitty hair is not to be used on a car…..

Shiny paint makes not a proper repair. it’s obvious that even doing it everyday some people dont understand
