Hi everyone.
I got a quart of R-M adhesion promoter and decided to check the TDS, and I see no mention of sanding prior to spraying. I used SEM before and it required sanding with 400 before spraying.

Here is the TDS for 868:

So how do I go about spraying this on PP bmper? Sanding/steps?

Thanks in advance.

raw plastic bumpers don’t require sanding with adhesion promoters and plastic primer

yea they dont require sanding if its raw plastic. i use PPG nano adhesion kit where u sand with a pre-saturated sponge, wipe with a special adhesion wipe, let it flash, then spray the adhesion promoter and let that flash. after that it gets top coated with flexible sealer. its real easy and it holds the paint really well. i think with this kit you dont have to preheat the plastic to release the mold agents but id still do it or wash with really hot water first.

Thanks for reply everyone.

I used SEM before and I clrealy remember it asking to sand with 400 grit before spraying adhesion promoter.

So for this RM promoter I will: clean the bumper with hot water and SEM soap

clean with plastic prep surface cleaner

spray adhesion promoter, wait 30 mins and
spray epoxy primer.

Thanks again. :rock

here is the BASF recommended prep procedure:

http://www.basfrefinish.com/vta/R-M/plastics_methods.htm (click clean and prep)

BASF doesn’t recommend there epoxy on flexible parts. Keep in mind the flash time on there plastic cleaner (902) is about 30 mins, I usually do this well ahead of time. I typically use the low end of the tech sheet for 868 and topcoat after 15 mins.

Thanks for reply.

I am going to use Dupont epoxy primer over the R-M adhesion promoter.
