    Hey guys do any of you use a Sata hvlp for metallic base coat, j know and again use it for clear. Just wondered what it’s like for laying down silvers and for fades,

    HVLP for base. RP for clear.

    I use a Sata 3000 HVLP for metallic base and I couldnt ask for anything more. I used to spray clear with it too but it left a pretty bad orange peel.

    If you’re a SATA slut, that is the way to go.

    Since it hasn’t been mentioned in this thread yet…I’ll muddy things up and recommend the Tekna 🙂

    X2 on the tekna(compliant cap) for solvent or water,I also liked an rp or nr2000 for solvent also.2000 and 4000 rp’s for clear also….

    Yep, an old 2000, and it works well for me.

    I tried it with clear once and will never make that mistake again 😆

    I use a 3000 hvlp 1.3 as my main base gun. Works good for me @ 23-26 psi. I also have a wsb set-up that I sometimes use in high humidity conditions for solvent base. I have used it for clear on small jobs. Did alright but kinda slow.
