I’m looking for a new clear gun, My current gun is a SATA RP 1.4. I move kinda fast when I paint and like a 1.4 over the smaller tips. I see HVLP.. just LV guns and several other Iwata guns. What is best for cars? Thanks Bill
September 6, 2012 at 6:04 am #38210use a hvlp for primeing, sealing, base, rp or compliant non hvlp for clearing.
September 6, 2012 at 3:23 pm #38215My Sata RP is the digital model 09049111 I like it for clear, I use an NR3000 for base. I’m just looking for the “next level”

😆 😆 😆
The next level begins with metal work and ends with the finish

September 7, 2012 at 8:50 am #38224My next gun purchase will be an RP digital 1.4 for clear.
My Iwata LV is nice for the work I do (lots of little jobs with SS) but SLOW
I also threw out my old primer guns. The 3m Accuspray is where it’s at!
September 7, 2012 at 9:22 pm #38229If it’s speed you’re after then stick with the RP. The high delivery versions of the WS400 Supernova come close (and give a marginally better finish IMHO) but the RP definitely has the edge on speed.
September 8, 2012 at 2:03 am #38231I bought the RP because I thought it was the best… Today and this week it sure laid out a super slick “no buff” gloss on a Siverado pickup… parts painted the hood, bed, cab with fenders.. .. DING, if I get back and look down the side.. yeah.. I see a litle ripple in the bodywork. I saved the dedutible and it’s a truck.. FRIDAY PAY DAY!
September 8, 2012 at 3:13 am #38232I have been using RP’s for over 10 years really haven’t seen anything better IMO.I use a combo of teknas rp’s(first gen and a 4000) and an old jet 90.Iwatas are nice but they just don’t work for my style, what ever works for you that turns out consistent work is the best gun.
I guess I’m old school but I don’t care if its a truck/car/beater I like then to be shiny and waveless 😉
November 18, 2012 at 11:37 pm #39323I have used a couple for almost 2 years, there a great all around gun from sealer, base,to clear. The tekna is not as fast of a clear gun as an Rp but it still does a decent job, just depends what your spraying style is.
November 19, 2012 at 2:43 am #39324Hey, I have four clear guns, a Sata rp, a Sata hvlp, and two gti pros. The best set up for me is my gti pro with a 1.3 and te20 for a fast flow. I use it daily and think it give a gd finish for the everyday car. Depending on what style you paint and what finish your looking for. Also I think it does help to look at your data tech sheets for the clears your using which will help on the set up ull need 🙂
