+1 for the Mini jet I use a 1.0sr tip but I spray PPG DBC

But you would need to use the Iwata to even make a justified choice

How about a devilbiss sri-pro ..i won one of them and have not used my sata mini jet since..

I have both and I use both for different things. My setup is a Minijet 1.4 for primer, then I use an LPH80 1.0 for metallics and pearls and a Minijet 1.2 for solids and candies followed by another Minijet 1.4 for Clear and another LPH80 0.8 for blending solvent. Both guns atomize nicely but the LPH seems to get a finer mist for me and the Minijet sprays a nicer fan. If you’re looking for an all around gun I would go with the Minijet 1.4, I do repairs and custom work so I use a 1.4 because you can get a mini flake through it. For repairs only go with a 1.2.

not used the LPH but have been running a 1.2 MJ4 for a few years ,nice gun ,however i recently got myself an ANI [Asturo] FI HPS minigun again a 1.2 but gives out a lot more material then the Sata with a nice wide fan ,claims transfer rates of 80% and i can well believe it ,copes with unreduced HS clears where the Sata 1.2 SR needs reduction and is a lot slower than the ANI

price wise they are half that of most other SMART repair guns such as the Iwata and Sata along with much cheaper service parts ,as everyone will know sata guns are prone to lids cracking and they are not cheap to replace either ,they also suffer with the fan control nobs cracking as they are only plastic

as for Iwata i always liked the W100 gun ,its bullet proof and very versatile mini

I’ve used both, but much prefer the LPH80.

I agree with some of the comments above though – the baby sata does give a better fan if you’re doing larger areas, but the atomisation of the LPH is so much better, so colour matching and blending is effortless. Overspray and air consumption are minimal too.

And as Paul says, the Minijet is much more fragile than your average sata. We’ve broken several in the space of a couple of years, but I’ve yet to have any problem with my LPH. And as for the W100 – it’s a really nice gun and we have a couple lying around, but they’re not much good for me as the side mounted pot isn’t very leftie-freindly!

Thanks for the input guys. As for the GTI pro i have one also but its to big for getting into tight spots. I was borrowing the mini jet it worked well but before I dropped the coin on a new gun just wanted some input. I do mostly collision repair with some custom stuff here and there. I have a supernova and like that so was kinda looking at the lph but have not used one. So all the comments are helpful

How is the size on the 300 compared to the 80

    May 22, 2011 at 6:46 pm #30974

The 300 isn’t much smaller than a full size W/LPH400 really, whereas the LPH80 is almost toy like in appearance!

    The LPH80 is back right.

how are you getting on with that Supernova ,i hear mixed reports on them ,either love or hate

I’m in the love category then Paul.

I’ve had mine for about a year now, and don’t feel the need to change it for anything else, although I have been told that the Sata 4000 RP just about betters it for clear.

    May 27, 2011 at 12:05 pm #31016

im hearing reports that the 4000 RP isnt as good as the older 3000 for clears and this is from a diehard Sata user with vast experiance

i think i will stick to my Optima ,its certainly the best finishing gun i have ever used and my Walcom guns easily match Sata at half the price

It must be a case of different strokes for different folks.

I’ve not used a 4000 RP myself Paul, but the guy who commented on it is the UK technical manager for HOK, and a avid Iwata fan like myself. He loves using my WS400, but had to admit that the Sata had a slight edge for clear (in his opinion), but nothing came close to Iwata for base.

When we slacken off a bit at work I’ll get my hands on a pair of 4000’s and try them for myself 😉
