Last month I moved into the Shop Foreman position and things are good but I believe they could be better.. So I am just looking for some better ideas or resources for tracking jobs in process.

We average $300,000/month and generate around 175 repair orders per month

    Thanks

You are generating 175 repair orders per month and $300,000 and you don’t have a way of tracking your jobs? Or did I misunderstand you?

If you want to be cheap, you could set something up in MS Excel and manually enter the jobs as they arrive then track them that way…or a very large dry erase board

Otherwise there are some software programs that can work with your estimating software. What are you using for estimates?

I use the dry erase method right now.2 boards.. But it gets a little overwhelming :silly:

We primarily use CCC one.. but also have Audatex..
    Our dealership uses ADP management..

I’m kind of in the same boat as far as moving into the position and knowing there is room for improvements but not knowing where to start.

We use Audatex online. It was setup at this shop before that they used Google Docs which has it’s own form of a spread sheet, word processor, etc. I have one spreadsheet with the name, insurance company, refinish hrs, body hrs, total hrs, date in, date out and days in the shop. from there i set it up to automatically figure my avg rf hrs per job, body hrs per job, cycle time, touch time, etc.

i’ve got another spreadsheet setup to input my tech’s hrs, they’re output and efficiency.

in order to access google docs you have to have a gmail account, which our shop uses as our email address anyway.

Well, if it were me, I’d get rid of CCC and just use Audatex and/or Mitchell. CCC isn’t available up here, but I am familiar with their estimates through General Motors, and they make me 😡

Mitchell has a tracking program. There is also AutoFocus (avaliable through Audatex). It is some fancy software for management/tracking and is compatible with all estimating software. I have not used it, but know a local dealer group that is using it in their bodyshops. I have heard good things about it and they are having success using it with Mitchell and Audatex.

And thanks Ding for the link.. been a while since I’ve been over there

Sorry Ben CCC One isnt going anywhere around here. Getting ready to be done with Audetx the end of next month…. but I’ll check out the AutoFocus before Audtex goes

    Thanks for all your replies
