Anyonw knows what those lines are called?
In the first coat, there were this 3-4 inch lines, maybe 3 of them with metallic irregularly placed around them. Kinda like “halo” effect, hard to describe:blush:
But after I sanded them and sprayed 2-3 coats all over the bumper, it sprayed great. So what caused those lines? What are they called?

I agree 100%. I noticed the orange cap sprayed a bit “coarser” than the silver cap, it does a great job though, whole panel or blending.March 17, 2009 at 6:06 am #13415zarbat007 wrote:

ya got me on that one your not talking tiger stripes or mottling are ya :SMottling around 3 lines, each about 3-4 inches. The rest sprayed great.
I think I was too close to panel, not sure. Doesn’t matter I sanded those lines and sprayed again, no more! :cheer:
I was just curious what caused this, and why did mottling occur around those lines.March 17, 2009 at 6:14 am #13417ya sounds like thats it happens ta all of us just a little more paint than ya needed where ya didnt need it;)
I don’t like the Iwata for basecoats.
I only use it for clears, it’s a super clear gun.
But for basecoats, why fight it, I always had problems with silvers
as a lot of others have.
My elcheapo Astro never gave me a problem so that’s what I still use for basecoats.
Iwats’s are great clear guns.
But for metallic basecoats, you can keep it. - AuthorPosts
