Hello all….Have a body shop in So.Cal…Very small..I do all the
the painting, my wife does all the masking and sanding and
my son does the body…Due to the poor economy in So.Cal,
I specialize in doing very low end paint jobs..Hope to pick up
some tips from all you pros…

DennisAnonymousJanuary 10, 2010 at 9:35 pm #18539welcome jantxx! wish I could get my wife to mask up cars for me, she’d be afraid to break a nail…. Follow bondomerchant closely, he’s the low end paint job specialist! :rofl
I should talk after this volkswagen video I’m in the process of uploading to youtube.
Anyhow, enjoy your stay.
January 10, 2010 at 9:37 pm #18540Shop is in Riverside Ca….Due to doing low end paint jobs, I had to find a low end paint..Due to the restrictions in So Cal, we dont have alot of
low end paints that r any good…At present Im using Sherman Williams
Dimention line…For my cc I use sherman Williams base coat and transtar
7311 clear…You do have better options. Better products at better prices. But, like me,
you’ll have to order online.I’ve used lots of Transtar products and although the 7311 is nice, the amber
cast is too much. However, the price is good, around $130/kit for nearly
2 gallons. And their primers aren’t very good; shrinks like crazy…Check out my recent threads regarding SPI Euro Clear. It’s around $90/kit
but seriously better than the 7311.I operate a small shop too and understand where you’re coming from. No need
to tell you that it aint easy. I don’t have the luxury of spending $500 on
a pint of base like these hot shots here. 😉jimmo wrote:

Welcome to the forum, there’s definitely some good products out there for reasonable prices.
Let’s just say I “Get the good stuff!” :lol1
hey welcome, i have the same problem here in NJ, income levels in our neighborhood arent that high to make a decent profit, so im always looking for cheaper versions of good materials. i think i have a complete material list of the best and worst of the cheap materials list.
