Wow I never had any issues with the global system,I liked the deltron system better but it worked fine for me.I would use ppg way before basf, that stuff is way overpriced for what ya get IMO.I think you will be fine for what ya spent. You can use omni primers to keep the cost down too.

You guy must have a different price structure up there, BASF is way way less than PPG, except omni.. I would be curious as to what you are paying for autowave?!

As far as what we pay I will not tell you on the net,but I will tell you that the shop I work at has been sikkens since 1987 and we use $20,000 in paint a month…just paint that doesn’t include parts or other materials. So with that in mind and the history we get 30% off sometimes more.In my area dupont and BASF are the most expensive, and sikkens is up there as well but with our discount is cheaper than all the other brands. There is a huge basf distributor here in my province that is western canada wide and they really tried to get us to switch a few years ago and offered us all kinds of incentives and cash, but they could not offer us as good of a deal.

20k a month and you deserve a big discount. around here sikkens and 55 line are the most expensive. Deltron, Dupont and Diamont are around the same price. I’ve used chromabase, chroma premier, DBC and 55 line and some diamont and prefer the basf lines over the others. They all worked but basf seems to match easier for me.

Im gonna agree with ding! Global is super spendy for what it is down here. I like dbc but cant stand the global. I like ppg, but I do prefer basf.

Sounds like we might have similar sized operations, our average this year has been 19k a month.. Even with the discount BASF is still cheaper here.. I think we pay less here, we also buy direct, not sure if you do or not.. We have no Sikkens jobbers in this area.

The price we pay is the same as buying direct,we have checked and our jobber kisses our butt so to speak.I have used all of the major systems in my 25 years and I can honestly say I do not like basf, and price is not the issue. Our shop is 18,000sqft,16 bodymen,2 painters. We do collision repairs, large rottiserie restorations, collision repairs and refinishing of semis and eveything in between. If you can buy stuff cheaper good for you ,it ticks me off that our dollar is the same most of the time but we still pay more on some things and less on others.

Yeah just strange that the prices vary so much.. Stone and I have talked about BASF pricing and the list price is so much higher in his area.. I was just thinking sikkens would be the same as far as retail goes. Just funny how they can vary the price so much from area to area.. sometime I will pm you some clear prices to see how close we are, since we buy about the same.

i used to think debeer was more expensive than ppg, but a pint of debeer color goes farther than a pint of dbc, almost 1.5 times as far and matches better. as far as spending on materials goes, i go with what works, i dont fall victim to brand names. its like buying brand name drugs when the generic is a fraction of the price
