ok, so i did this job back in the summer. here’s the back story.
we fixed the r-bedside, rr-door, blend rf-door. so did all this on a wed., buffed a few places here and there, delivered on fri.. The customer brought it back the following tues. because of a primer line left by the body guy. So we had my head preper reblock the door, and reprime it. My preper complianed about the edges blistering some, which i expected, since we use prime with reducer, and paint being still fresh.
SO i get the truck in the booth on wed. afternoon. now this time i paint the r-door, f-door and blend the fender. I use the same products as last time, enviro base, dc4000 w/85 hardner (semi slow drying clear). now here’s where it got a lil weird. It began to fry on the second coat of clear, now enviro didn’t blister anything, but it did blister in other area’s but only wher it was cleared from last time, even then not every just here and there.so i called the jober and told them they needed to come out, as it would be better if they did then me explaining what happen. So the guy gets there i explian to him what was done last week, and what we did this time, and i didn’t understand why it happen, considering i could buff it, and have recoated cars before literualy 30 mins after bakeing and never had this before. Being dumb founded himself, he ended up calling our rep…soooo. this is what i was told, that since it was a “green job” that it just sometimes happens. (i can live with that, at least it’s an honest answer) and to let it dry, sand it with 600-800 grit, and recoat. so i pulled it out, left that side in the sun for the rest of the afternoon, brought it back in that nite, had my guy reprep it with 800 on a da,scotched it, and repainted everything again, with enviro and used dcu2021 claer this time. surpriseingly it came out good.
so i was lucky that one, the clear that blistered didn’t make it’s way down to the orginal paint. basicly just sanded it, smoothed out fine. and the other thing was, when i repaint, we taped off the bed side, and the edged also wrinkled a little, but we were able to sand and buff.
here are some pics.

could also be where it was not sanded good the first time. iv done some bumpers that these lot repair guys have done. sometimes the clear will bust it if they did not sand it good in the first place. looks like that may be what happened especially under the molding. just a thought.
