i did this o2 wanna be z series s10 a few weeks ago. this thing must of ment something to the owner. it was a total lose. it got a used rusted bed, a drivers side door, new grille, one fresh paint job all over. it did have the factory flares, that we painted black instead of the factory semi gloss grey, and both bumpers got painted as well. i got some in the both pics. we should have it finished uped this week so i should have more later of the finish product.
i used dbc base, 2002 clear.

July 13, 2011 at 6:44 am #31697Looks damn nice Lild :rock Hey how does that white 3m masking paper work with waterborne? When I used it a couple of years ago it would slightly bleed through.Have you tried the new american mid grade blue masking tape?
July 13, 2011 at 11:07 pm #31714Came out nice :rock
Did you put a sealer or ground coat on it to even out the colour, or did your red cover ok? I find most reds have a problem covering, especially over black.
July 14, 2011 at 4:37 am #31722thanks guys, got a couple of vids. here.
jason the white paper works very well, haven’t had a problem with bleed throughs. we did use the blue but went back to the white cuase it was cheaper.
andy t i used a standard gray sealer. solid reds in the ppg seem to cover very well, it covered in 3-4 coats.enjoy the vids.

I would say at least 3 coats would be standard on any red. Are you using a system other than water that covers in less?

exactly, and it really depends on the color of your sealer or undercoat.
July 21, 2011 at 6:05 am #31828i was going to say, i sprayed ppg for 15 yrs now. rarely did i ever needed more than 3 coats to hide.
here’s the finish product. the guy wanted the flares and bumpers and the push bar paint glossy black. really didn’t care for that. but my opion doesn’t pay the bills.
