I am so tired of the shop I’m in. It is insane. So I am going to look for another job. I’m refreshing my resume and going to start hunting. All this leads me to think about is shop loyalty, the market, and fair work.

I think everyone can relate to that at one time or another,it can be very hard to find a place where you are appreciated for what you do.There are good shops out there it just takes some looking and word of mouth to find a good one.Do you have any friends at other shops in your area? Are you friendly with some of the jobbers in your area?If they are trust worthy they might have some leads for you without jeopardizing you current job.Good luck.

There is always work in this trade for a skilled workers, its not uncommon for owners to pay good salaries to some of the employes just to keep em around. Good auto body techs/painters these days are hard to find, seems like a lot of the new ones are just parts changers and cant do good filler work and put out dust free paint without cutting and buffing to save their lives,Its a tough cut throat business to be in but i wouldn’t worry about it too much if i were you.

yeah it can be a shitty trade at times, on a side note, what do you guys think would be the pros and cons of having this trade regulated and unionized? I dont know about the states, but Im pretty sure most if not every province in canada has this trade unregulated.. The rate of pay for autobody repair and painting is horseshit, flat rate is the only way to clean up.

Jay, u r so right about people appric. good work and workers. I called every1 including my jobbers yesturday. I went on an interview I start at a new place today. I didn’t even realize that the new place is owned by old shops owners bro. But as it turns out he hates his bro. No big supprise there. Exicited and nervous but I have got to try. I often think union would be cool but I fear were we have so many illegal islanders that shops wouldn’t hire union because then they couldn’t push people around. Thanx guys!
