Ok so I have no clue what the hell i’m doing have joined a few forums and have gotten no where I am a novice body guy who wants to learn my project is a 66 GTO that has been painted after being media blasted and slapped together the car is still just a shell and figured better fix the paint before I reassemble the car I have several spots that are peeling mostly frt fenders 1 spot on the deck lid and when I hit the rear deck lid body seal area the paint just blew off found that the dash was full of panel bond where guy drilled holes and squirted it in to hold the window channel in so mu question to you guys do yo think this ol man can handle the job with some help ?any advice would be welcomed thanks.
May 31, 2012 at 3:59 am #37070Post pictures of the problem areas,it will be easier for us to figure out a plan.If it was media blasted with fresh paint peeling everywhere and you dash problem doesn’t sound promising.Chances are good that you might have to strip it off to see what the last shop covered up….

You say “media blasted”, what was the media? I just hope it wasn’t baking soda; it will ruin a good car if it isn’t neutralized correctly.

Sean[/quote]baking soda is very alkaline and needs to be neutralized with an acid. Creates a chemical reaction with the steel. I believe if it is not neutralized you will have massive adhesion issues and possibly corrosion problems.
