Anyone familiar with this issue?
I did some round-fan clearcoat spraying on some hard to reach places, let this cure for 5 minutes, and then put on the normal wide-fan clear coat layers.
The next day it looked fine, untill i started buffing (after cutting). I noticed hundreds of VERY small (pepper like) dots in the finish. They are exactly in the overspray (dry spray) area of that first round-fan coat.I think letting cured that first round-fan coat is not such a good idea?
By the way, i noticed it because it was a black non-metallic paintjob. On lighter- or metallic colors you wouldn’t notice them, they are that small.
are you getting enough airflow round these as they cure and are they being left to sit in still envionment overnight such as a closed booth as often the solvents will just sit on top of the job and create this type of issue
letting that first coat cure was a good idea but five minutes doesnt sound anywhere near enough ,if i have laid a heavy first coat i tend to let it slick off for good while
I think this one should be pretty straight forward….I think
The over spray from the initial blow in doesn’t flow with your next coat. Rather it creates tiny pebbles that creates little air pockets around the pebbles. I see this pretty frequently with primers. Use a slower solvent or paint your blow in areas and follow immediately with a full coat over the normal area.
