I like my LPH80 but having used an SRi pro I’d probably go for one of those as it’s capable of a wider fan pattern if you want to use it for a slightly bigger job. I’ve done full bumpers and single panels with my Iwata but it does take a lot of passes!
Cheers andy,i did a full wing and half a bumper today with the sri pro and it did it with ease, also used less clear and it layed it really flat.i may just get one of those then bud.
Any air gunsa mini guns out there ? Another painter next door has one he got free with a primer kit about ten years ago and it still gets him great results, just thought the air gunsa may be cheaper,i know there part of iwata now.September 21, 2013 at 8:48 am #44580I don’t know about Air Gunsa. I know the AZ3 is available in a 1.0 but I don’t know how suitable it’d be as a mini gun.
Back when I was doing SMART I used a couple of Deltalyo DL2000WB 1.0 guns. They did the job surprisingly well for the price of them (around £100 inc VAT) but if you’re in for the long haul rather than a short term saving you have to factor in reliability, parts availability etc. You can’t beat buying one of the big brands for stuff like that 🙂
Oh, and one of my co workers used to use a Graco Finex mini/midi gun, available here as one of their best sellers for less than a ton. That worked pretty well too and with extra set ups from 0.6 to 1.4 available (at only £33 each!) they’re pretty flexible.
Might be worth a look.

However, I’ve also been looking for a decent smaller gun in RP/compliant setup and saw the AZ40 HTE. Seems to fit the bill, on paper at least and prices excluding VAT are fairly attractive.
I bought an SRI Pro earlier this year. I do like the bigger fan pattern and the speed. It can handle pretty big jobs (for a mini gun). The SRI Pro came with a couple air caps so it can be HVLP or Compliant/RP with a quick change. I have used older SATA Minijets, and this outperforms them. I don’t know how the current minijet sprays, but it sure looks nice. I would have liked the Current minijet, but without a demo on it I was unsure.
September 21, 2013 at 9:48 pm #44593I bought a sri pro around 6 months ago. First mini gun never had use for one before.
I don’t use it that often but it’s great for those small blow ins.
Mine is the 1.0mm it sprays base clear and single stage great the one thing I have found (and its pretty obvious) if your using hs clears or single stage I have to thin them a little more than I should. I’m sure with a 1.2 I wouldn’t need too.
It is a good gun though, definitely worth spending the extra coin for one.
September 22, 2013 at 4:46 am #44596I love my SATA, but they sure are pricey. I would love an alternative that’s reliable. Stay away from Sharpe, I have one and the trigger sticks constantly.
