Reinforced filler ( read USC Duraglass ), then a skim of regular mud and a coat of epoxy to seal it all up.. Quarter seam on passengers side was also blasted, epoxied and re seam sealed and now has epoxy sealing it

I in a holding pattern with all my projects…. Cash problems

It’s painful to see so much work @ $2500…! But i’m glad you are charging extra for the rust repair!!!!

    April 19, 2009 at 9:23 pm #14025

Han he is making out good, but yes I am charging for the rust repair.. Think it took me 8 hours, that included removing the bumper support which took about an hour , blasting, clean up of blast material, cutting out the patch panels and welding them solid, yada yada yada.. 😉

I told him I would charge an hourly rate plus materials.. Still that makes it cheaper for him, which I honestly dont mind.. He has offered to build me a garage completely from start to finish if I buy materials at no cost.. I would just trade the labor on this car minus material cost that he has already paid to me.. Like I said before in earlier post.. He is a good guy.. I think that proves it right there.. He knows I have some big money jobs coming in and he builds houses. Been a contractor for over 20 years….. Wish I could come up with the funds for all the materials plus concrete.. But just cant right now  Oh well.. Ill be glad when its gone.. I have a bunch of small collision repairs lined up and Bondo likes those :woohoo:

Oh yeah, Happy Belated Birthday Han

Happy B day to you too!

Glad you got some small collision work coming in. Quick jobs equal quick cash! I’m getting quite a few of these
non insurance cash jobs (the best kind). It’s usually a lot more profitable than completes. But, just like you,
I know these folks quite well and tend to do more. Customers are completely amazed at a quick clay/wax job.

I’ve used lots of that Marhyde Ultimate 2K. It’s not bad for the money but the SPI Regular 2K is considerably
better; plenty of build, fast drying, virtually no shrinking and low cost. Probably the same price range too.

Making an order next week for more clears and primers. And i’m going to try the new sealer; this should be good.

Let me know what you think of the new sealer.. I plan on getting 2 gallons.. 1 in black and 1 in white when my next overall job comes in.. I was going to use the Euro on this car, but Barry convinced me not to.. He was afraid I would not get it buffed in time and then it would be concrete.. I would like to try it out sometime.., guess not right now

I hear a lot of you guys talking about SPI products, but I have never tried them.. How do they compare to some of the high end stuff?? Pricing seems pretty reasonable..

    April 22, 2009 at 1:56 am #14036

Top shelf products at affordable prices.. Customer service like no other in the industry.. Does not get much better than that 😉

Barry Kives is the sole owner and operator..
Here is his number.. He would enjoy answering any questions you have.. and I mean any questions you have bro

    :woohoo:

This is just going to turn out to be another SPI promotional thing… It’s not even intentional either.
To be able to interact with the owner is great. He listens to his customers and may make adjustments
to the products. That’s “unheard of.” Barry operates his business the old fashioned way. And that’s how
i operate mine as well; albeit at a much smaller scale.

Looks like she’s coming along nicely.

The way your flash seems to overpower everything like that really makes me worry about your lighting in there though.

Trust me, I have quite a bit of lighting.
Nearly 20 florescent bulbs, and I have to fight like a mad man to get a light to drag across.
It looks like gymnastics some of the crap I have to do to drag the light just right.

For an ideal I think I need to put a fifth set up top. and one/two more per every side.

It’s crazy, my whole point is you can never have enough lights…
And it doesn’t seem to matter how much light you have in your booth, if you can’t drag it across the panel it is absolutely worthless. :S
