I started this job on Monday, got most of the parts on Wednesday. It is a 2009 GMC 2500HD (diesel). It was a hard hit just Lt. of centre. Needed new hood, fenders, rad support, bumper, rad, rad fan and everything in that general area. The Lt. frame rail was damaged, bent and had a small crack. The estimate is sitting around $21000. My body, frame and mechanical time combined is about 45 hours and about 20 hours for paint.

Unfortunately I don’t have the original pic, but it was hit a little harder than this one:

    After the tear down:

    First shipment of parts:

Getting it built back up after repairing the frame:

The rad, intercooler, fan and fan shrouds (3 pieces) were a major PITA to install as there is no room for anything and the hardware is placed in the worst possible places. Oh well, the PITA portion is done. :dnc

The Rail was pretty easy to move (with a tiny bit of heat). The training I did basically said that the front and rear sections of the frame are much softer than the centre. The frames are being built with some similar concepts to unibody.

All the parts are OEM GM parts (a big contributor to the cost of the job). Definitely a good money maker for everyone. Other than dealing with the rad and related junk its a pretty good job indeed. :clappy

Oh, and unlike the Chryslers the door handles actually come out easily! We have gotten a bunch of Saturns (which I have been deprived of elsewhere). Never realized they were so great to work on.
