Yes Focus 2005. Use 2K Nason Primer and Valpar 333 Basecoat and MS200 Clearcoat

    July 5, 2010 at 6:12 am #22321

Did you put hardener in the base?

    July 5, 2010 at 6:31 am #22323

    Did you tell about HPC2?

    July 5, 2010 at 6:36 am #22324

    What the hell is “HPC2”?

    July 5, 2010 at 6:44 am #22327

yes it is…. but dont kick yourself over it. it’s only a focus :lol1 :lol1 :lol1
the hardener will help with the paint durablilty especially on the bumper which takes most of the abuse

I wouldn’t worry about the hardener in the base. I would consider the Nason primer the weak point of the system…not exactly the best for adhesion on plastic or flexability.

Nonetheless, it looks like a good job and I am sure it will last a good while.

    July 5, 2010 at 1:58 pm #22340

Ok then, what would be the best solution for my next job like?

    July 5, 2010 at 3:59 pm #22341

Ha-Ha-Ha,,,trust me, Im not gonna kick my self over somebody elses bumper job.

I have heard this said a few times never done it before, is there any literature from any of the leading paint companies that back this up as a recommended operation.

It will become a little irrelevant with the introduction of waterbase basecoats.

Unless some of the companies are introducing special hardeners for their basecoats.

,,,,,you asked,,,”is there any literature from any of the leading paint companies that back this up as a recommended operation.”

I’m sure you can find some if you look hard enough. Its not a new process. It was discovered by a NASCAR team a log time ago…………
