In the right hands they will produce the same result the RP just getting the job done much faster.

I was a DIE-HARD Iwata guy for clearcoat for over 9 years. But I have to say, the Sata 3000 RP with a 1.3 tip is the best gun for high solid clears. The 4000 RP is a great gun too, much faster than the Iwata you are refering to, but the 3000 RP is just a notch above. It’s a bit louder, and not quite as effortless to use. But if you can dial it in, and move quickly, this gun has NO competitors right now when it comes to high solid clearcoats IMO…

The old first gen rp does just as good of a job as the 3000rp IMO 😉

Our shop manager was out in the shop for 14 years or so and swears by the 1st gen rp. He knows Im looking for a new clear gun so he is going to bring in his rp for me to try. He says it kicks th 3000s but all day long. What I want to know is how does the fan pattern, noise level and fluid delivery compare to the 3000?

    October 29, 2011 at 7:26 am #33862

Fan pattern is wide and a little finer than the 3000
    Noise-who cares really doesn’t matter.
The 3000rp puts out a touch more material than the first gen rp but not enough to notice a difference,it is still a fast gun.
Lots of guys like the 3000 and do nice work with them.Any one of the rps work.

Ok thanks Jayson. As far ans the noise thing, Im sure some people dont mind, but I have been using the LPH400 fore a few years now and then going to a 3000 rp at 33-34 psi is quite a bit louder than what im use to. Im sure I could get use to it after a while.

An rp is super quiet compared to an old devilbiss jga at 55psi :rofl Your lucky you didn’t have to use the old high pressure conventional guns 😛

Yeah, but then you miss all the really good paint that was easy to use. Oh, what I couldn’t do with a gallon of acrylic enamel.

    Where’s some 580S?

    DCA468 anyone?

    (edit)

    How could I forget Velvaseal.

I listen to my IPod when I paint so noise doesn’t matter to me! 😉

My guess is if you like the Supernova you will probably like the 4000 as they seem similar as far as spray patterns. Speed is a little better with the 4000 though. Best way to tell is to demo both before buying.

Support you local jobber and buy both.

    LOL
