OK guys I been having problems with laying down some clear. The clear is a shop line JC630 with JH6390 super slow hardener. The reason Im using the 90 is cause its 105 in the booth. When I spray it the finish on the panel looks dry so I slow down to keep from drying it. It looks good till about 8 min then it runs like the wind blows. When I spray it in these conditions should it look a little dry so the 90 lets flow out to a smooth finish. If that makes sense to anyone let me know plz if not could you point in the right direction

I’ve never shot that particular clear but I shoot in a booth that about this time of year is running between 105-110 degrees so I have had the same problem. Your first coat is going to look a little dry, no way to avoid it without running but after it’s flashed your second coat should bite to the first so you should be able to shoot it a little heavier. I don’t know if this will work for you but it works perfectly for me and after two coats I’m good to go. :rock

If you are going to spray it wet with a slow hardener, spray FAST. Sounds like you just
need to adjust your spraying speed and the speed of your product to the temperature AND
to the size of your job.

i run into the same booth getting too hot and humid issue often during the summer so i found that in addition to using a slow hardner and reducer, i spray after sunset or late at night. i know its probably not feasible if you have a list of cars to be painted but if its a complete paint job and your really worried about results then spraying at night is way better. also, idk if ur spraying a complete or just panels but if the weather is really hot and its a complete i dont let the clear flash any additional time because by the time i get all the way around the clear is just about ready for the next coat.

It started out 3 doors, left rear quarter, one fender and the hood. I got all the rest painted but one door. I’m gone spray it today in the mourning with a faster speed on my travel. Maybe that will help me some.

done it looks ok will need a cut a buff but no runs and the peel matches what is on the rest of the untouched panels.

Here is the SVU done and given back.

The front door had a few rock chips down to the primer the back door had a big scratch in it. It also hit the molding which was fixed and repainted as well. Did not get a pic of the other side but it got the back door, fender and rear quarter blended on it. I also had to replace the rear panel under the back glass. This is my 2nd blend that I have ever done.

This is my first one. It had dents in the rear quarter and a big on right above the left front door. The drivers door had a few as well. I had to repaint the jams since the repairs got that far in.

I ended up repainting the hub caps and wheels before I gave it back. Wise I had a final pic of it.

try switching to a slower clear. i use jc620, and the 85 hardner on what i call cheap jobs. i belive the 620 is a little slower clear.
when it gets that hot, useing a fast clear and a slow hardner is a waste of time. you’ll have better results the other way around.
