Hello, My nephew just started college and my brother bought him a 2002 Chevy 4×4 Trailblazer for $500 that was destined for the junk yard because it was running like crap. My brother put a new fuel pump in it and now it runs really well. My brother wanted me to do some body work on it as the lower part of the quarters were rusted bad. He went and bought some Taiwan made rust repair panels that were to go a little beyond the body line. Problem was that they didn’t fit the body line so I cut them below the body line. They now fit pretty well. Only problem I may have now is that I had already ground the paint to bare metal where the repair panel was originally going to be fitted over the body line. So, I now will have to either paint the entire quarter or attempt to blend the paint to match. I’ve done nothing but paint entire panels in my experience. How do you actually blend the paint as to not see where the paint ends? Would you just keep going a little beyond the repair with each coat, so as to not have a paint edge? I also believe I found why both sides were rusted in the exact same spot. It’s strange, their is a very light gauge sheet metal looking “shelf” that has foam on it. This foam is sitting against the sheet metal. Being that their is a little hole on both sides in the fender wells, I’m guessing water and crap got in their and got soaked up by this sponge like material, causing it to rust. Must be a sound deadening material? If this were my truck, it wouldn’t matter that much to me, but I’d like my nephew to have a decent looking vehicle because he is such a hard working, nice kid! Thanks ahead of time!! Jack :rock

you answered your own question! 🙂

each coat a little further.. 1st coat a little beyond the sealed area that was repaired… 2nd coat further than the first, etc. until it covers.. make sure to fan your coats so it doesn’t leave an edge. a little reducer in the sealer so it lays down smooth, depends on the product your using but yeah… then clear the rest of the panel. make sure to scuff it up of course.

Hope this helps, $ good luck!
