My first question is, what brand of clear would you guys use over dupont chromabase paint?

Is there somewhere I can buy it online?

Has anyone ever used Restorers choice clear? I have heard it works pretty well?

    Thanks!

and just for fun here are a couple shots of the bumper i sprayed last week

This is Omni paint (yes i know)

first timer here… be easy on me fellas

    Hi Josh, welcome.

Bumper looks good. I don’t think it matters much what clear you use over it, Any 2K …whatever works for you. I use BASF products and use Glasurit 923-109 as my go to clear for the most part. If your looking for a cost effective clear maybe look into southern polyurethanes, transtar and I think a few guys here use a NAPA clear (crossfire).

I’m looking to go to a different clear because the omni is so hard to work with after it cures….

    thanks guys!

is there a good place to buy online? my local shop sells mostly omni and HOC

    jimmo, napa sells clear?

I think I’ve heard bondomerchant and ding talk about it before, hopefully they chime in. I am not 100%

Yeah napa sells clear, 15410 or 15420, I think the new numbers are FC410/420.. I have used both and they work well. Virtually no die back and you cant beat the price. Bondo can give you more info on these products.

I really like the SPI stuff!!! I’m new at this stuff myself though

I can lay out SPI’s MS clear with no need to Buff most projects!

I also like Transtar Euro clear That’s a good one but spendy.
Buffing was required on that one after a few coats and Beers I think the Beer had something to do with it though as the first two coats were killer  I dunno the jury’s still out on that job.

    Hey Bondo?
Was that supposed to be one or two beer between coats? I forgot to ask you…
Oh well…I think after the second coat I went too three any way  .
(threw the instructions out after the second coat  )
(dont do that! ) read your tech sheets! :S  :silly:
