Don’t know how many here actually watch em but I’ve back recording again. This one has a better mic on it so I can talk a bit…still thinking I need to get one with an external mic….or a quieter booth. Anyhow heres the latest one:

thats some nice work jimmo. i love how well the basecoat covered after only the first coat. something i noticed which i dont know if it was intentional or not but you never really sprayed the fender and door as a unit. you stopped at the edges. is there like a reason to that? because it makes me believe that might just prevent dust lurking inside from hitting the work or over spray from getting in between? or was that just the way u prefer to spray?

Nah, I usually try not to stop at the edges…maybe just a bit off that day.

Are you sure you pimped this site enough? 😛

Another great vid, and yes I do like to watch them all. Dialogue is just about legible, but like you say maybe an external mic is a good idea.

I thought you were leaning against the fender while putting the sealer on – I was expecting to see a ‘naked’ patch when you moved away :lol1 Must just be the camera angle.

Ya I noticed the camera angle gives off that effect. I do cut it pretty close though, wouldn’t be the first time! Usually I’m good for one spraying a roof on a complete.

…and gotta get the RN plugs where ya can :lol1

    Hi Jim
I always watch your shows :woohoo: Cool vid as usual.

Whats up with your overlap changing on the primer it looked like it was way less than 50% color looked like it was close to 50% and clear looked good but If I tried to go that heavy with my Plus gun I would have runs every where! I like that Iwata!

Oh and It does look like you did lean on the fender while priming. 😛

So what camera did you get?

I dont know what to say about the overlap…I just try and spray to get even coverage.

The camera I went with is another cheapy. Got it on a boxing day sale for $100 down from $250. its this one here:

Gets the job done for now. I still want to look into one where I can use a wireless mic, like a bluetooth cell phone earpiece.

    Looks good Jimmo.
Not sure if using real masking paper instead of dog chow threw you off but you should really tape up some of those loose edges 😉
You using the polyuroxy more than the 285-49 nowadays as a sealer?

On jobs like this I use polyuroxy, smaller jobs or older cars get some form of urethane…either 285-49 or DP31. Thanks guys…will need to work getting it easier to hear. With the new laptop now it makes posting a vid a lot less work so I have a bit more time and patience to work with them (balloons and such).

That’s great – I like the little tips and stuff on the way in. I’m just about to do the engine bay on my car and will be getting some sealer for sure! It’s very helpful for those of us that don’t do this on a day to day basis to have a look at the pros doing the job.

Jimmo, keep the videos coming! This by far was one of the best as far as a detailed video goes. I often found myself questioning what certain materials do and no longer then a couple seconds did a little window pop up, which dirrectly answered my question! Keep the videos coming!

BTW, I noticed you went noticably fastern with this gun, is this the same gun, still the Iwata, usually you go pretty slow and I wonder how you dont run it! hehe

PS, Nice stretch over the hood.

    Great video Jimmo.

Just wondering, how much does a gallon kit of polyuroxy stuff cost you?

The difference in speed is likely because of the different clears..I switch em up all the time. this was DC5335 which seems a lot thinner then my Glasurit 923-109 that I typically use.
