I have sprayed 90 line and am about to get it where I work now. What seems to be the problem? slow? do you have blowers to dry the paint? what is the humidity like where you are painting?

We had a demo of this in the summer when it was 95 degrees with about 80% humidity and it dried quite well with very little use of blowers.

but what are your conditions now? was it demo’d at your shop?

BASF has issues with there waterborne systems, one thing that turned me off is doing a 2-tone,it is reccomended to clear your first color then do the 2nd color the next day of after a bake cycle. Also not very easy to repair, not a true waterborne, still solvent toners with a waterborne binder.

I am by no means sold on BASF products BUT! you can tape and spray a second colour aslong as you are not going for OEM warranty paint (putting hardener in the basecoat)which would make it gummy and tough to do any repair on or two tone, in which case yes you would need to clear, sand, remask paint ,reclear.

its solvent in the can, once mixed its a water-convert and then once flashed its back to solvent so once dried you treat it like a solvent for tacking/sanding/masking and so on.

But Jayson I will back up what you said in the other thread with mixing & tricky to repair (with hardener)
Basf is not a true waterborne, still solvent toners with a waterborne binder, also has to be mixed on a machine twice a day.Slow to dry, hard to repair, not user friendly.
Enviro base has good color match, true waterborne, only needs a couple of shakes before you pour, fast drying, easy to use, good metallic control.I would also put money on ppg being less expensive compared to basf.
YES WE PUT A NEW BOOTH IN AMER-CURE AQUMAX 3 MONTHS AGO JUST FOR WATER. HAS ROOF BLOWER SIDE BLOWERS VERY HAPPY WITH NEW BOOTH.

I KNOW THEY HAVE ISSUES WITH BASF. WE HAVE A NEW BOOTH WITH BLOWERS AND HEAT. I KNOW WE WILL BE SLOW IN THE RAIN DAYS BUT WE ARE SLOW ALL THE TIME WITH THIS PAINT. HAVE YOU SPRAY THE PPG ENVIROBASE. MY PAINT JOBBER KINDA JUST THROUGH THIS 90 LINE ON ME.I WANT TO DO WHATS BEST FOR MY SHOP AND PPG HAS BEEN HERE SHOWING THEIR STUFF BUT IT IS FROM ANOTHER JOBBER SO FOR ME TO SWITCH IS A BIG THING. BUT YOU KNOW HOW THESE PAINT REP ARE THEY ARE GOOD SALESMAN. EVERYONE I TALK WITH SAYS THE LIKE THE PPG BUT I HAVE NOT FOUND TOO MANY PEOPLE THAT HAVE SPRAYED BOTH 90LINE AND PPG. I GUESS MY QUESTION TO YOU IS WHAT DO YOU THING. AND KEEP IN MIND IM A SHOP THAT DOES 75 PERCENT OF WORK FOR CAR DEALERS (USED CARS NEW CARS) SO TIME IS EVERYTHING AND ALL I CAN FIND IS HIGH DOLLAR LIKE THE LAMBORGHINI DEALER IN MY AREA THAT USES 90 LINE OR THE FERRARI DEALER THAT ALSO USES 90 LINE THEY COULD CARE OF LESS HOW MANY CARS THEY DO IN ONE DAY.

Doesnt matter what we think (well ok it does) But it’s up to you. before you switch to anything make sure you demo the paint for at least a few weeks so you know how it is going to perform in your shop

Yup, demo all of them. And boot the tech reps out, maybe have them there the first few days, but after that, your guy needs to make it work himself.

Find out how they do after the “sale”

How often will they see you when you’re a customer?
