Hi
I have been doing bodywork since highschool, 2 years of coop and was hired before I graduated (96). I went to a tech school so they had a bodyshop and spray booth.
I did my aprenticeship at a GM dealer, 1 year at chrysler, 6 years at an independant shop and now just over 5 years at a city owned shop doing fleet repair. I specialized in heavy collision repair before my current job. I now do minor bodywork, aluminum repairs on boats, trailers and equipment vans. I also do fabrication and welding. I have pulled one car in the time I have been there and one ATV. I use the frame rack as a welding table. The paint side use to be dupont with the chroma premier mixing system. The low voc rules screwed things up a bit. They made the switch to transtar no mix base. They needed upgrades to go waterborn so that switch did not happen.
Glen
Thanks
I cut my intro a bit short.
I work in East York, Ontario. Basically Toronto.
They are trying to get me to start painting after 1 of the 2 painters retired at the start of the year.
I painted as an apprentice with the RM diamont system. Last time I painted anything was almost 6 years ago.Maybe I’ll get in the booth this week.

I don’t know about that but thanks.lol
but yes I am quite familiar with Diamont, I’m also in the Toronto area. Co-Auto is a great supplier for BASF but you would likely be using a waterborne system here and I don’t know that I’d want to endorse Onyx unless your spray environment is nothing short of perfection.. I hear good things about Paint Circuit for Dupont, I’ve met the owner also and seemed pretty accommodating (but they always are when they wanna sell ya a paint system) .
