i’m painting at a shop that uses dupont premier base coat.i’m using nasons and dupont 500 clear.i’m seeing cars that were painted before me coming in the shop with signs of the clear peeling off of the base in the middle of panels.i’m wanting to know how long this paint line has been out and is anyone out there seeing the same thing.thanks
January 18, 2013 at 9:53 pm #40438chromapremier paint has been out for quiet awhile. most likely peeling is due to an application issue. cheap thinner clear that is sanded and buffed will likely not have the proper film build needed. Also adding activator to the base is required with the chromapremier line. possibly this step was skipped
It is a good base cost, and as ding said you NEED to activate it. If you don’t activate the base then you will need to start using the regular chroma base binder (compatible with all your toners). It has the option to be hardened or not. I would also use the appropriate clears, like the 72200 and 72500 premiere clears.
