And I hear That Grizzly Guns Are the Best :exci
look around where you live to see what brands of paint are close by .
As for a gun Im a SATA fan but I have no preference. Devilbiss makes good stuff, Iwata also. Check ebay for a good used gun I have had good luck so far.August 8, 2011 at 5:07 am #32174Hi,
I am a new guy here, thinking about painting my 59 Porsche myself and was wondering what the best procedure was to repaint the car. The car was done in the 80s with a metallic silver anciat clear coat and I don’t want to take it to bare metal. I was thinking of using Acrylic Urathane single stage paint Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

August 18, 2011 at 12:35 am #32503So no replies to my first question , so I’ll trt again. :wak I have a 59 Porsche that was taken to bare metal 20 years ago and painted with bc/cc back in the early 80’s. I want to paint the car myself but have no desire to take it to bare metal again. I want to use a SS urathane paint. My question is: What prep steps doI need to do before painting the car. All suggestions welcome.
do you think a 59 Porsche is really a great car to practice on? what kind of cond. is the car in? Some pictures might help. first of all i would completely dismantle the whole car (remove all door handles, mirrors, key cylinders, bumpers etc.) Scrub everything that is painted with a wax and grease remover, mark all your dents and ripples that are going to need filler work,if you are going with ss paint sand the entire car with 320-400 grit paper until all shine and peel is gone. If their is any rust i suggest sand blasting just the spots. fill all imperfections and finish with a polyester putty. tape, paper, prime, seal, paint, cut and buff, reassemble. :weights
