Hello all! Looking foreward to getting lots of info. from all you knowledgable guys!I’ve been a member for probably 2 weeks and have posted a few questions already. Thought it was time I introduce myself. My name is Jack and I live in Pennsylvania. I’ve loved doing bodywork and painting since I was a kid painting bicycles! My best friend’s dad worked at a bodyshop and worked on half the town’s cars on the side in his backyard. I spent quite a few hours helping him work on my parent’s vehicles as a kid. This was like late 1980s so you may have to pardon my ignorance to anything much newer concerning refinishing! He usually used a single stage acrylic enamel shot them with an old Binks suction gun. He did some pretty nice work for painting in his back yard! Most importantly, he was cheap! lol He kept the same car for 30 years! He would do bodywork on it pretty much anytime it had a scratch on it! Anyway I hope to get from this site what I didn’t when I attended a vocational school while in high school. I absolutely loved the autobody class I was in and loved doing the work! To me it wasn’t work! Problem was I had a complete :cens for a teacher! This teacher played such favortism it was ridiculous!! I also believe he knew my uncle and disliked him. I wish I could go back and tell that teacher what I thought or talked to his boss!I was taught to always listen to and respect adults. He wasn’t worth respecting! But I was just a kid. I did so well at estimating, he incinuated (spelling) that I cheated in front of the whole class! I never did say a word! He said,” Well, some kids parents do their homework for them!” I could go on and on! I disliked that man so much I quit after a year. I could go on and on about how I feel I got screwed out of an education in something I always loved to do! If I could go back I would have told him what I thought, talked to his boss and went from there! Then hopefully I would have went on to a more advanced technical school and did what I love to do! So, I hope you all can provide me with the “education” I got screwed out of because of an :cens teacher! I don’t really expect an eduacation from you all, just help when I need it! lol I do a little “backyard” bodywork in my garage. BTW, I now substitute teach at that vo-tech that I feel screwed me out of an education. Although I sub. in the machine shop and that :cens teacher in the autobody department is long gone, thank god! Do I sound a little bitter, I am! I feel I got screwed out of possibly doing something I love for the rest of my life! If you read this entire post I thank you very much! I am looking foreward to all your help, opinions, and such! I ask a lot of questions as I am really that interested in autobody, so please bare with me! Thanks in advance! Jack

Cant blame YOUR life choices on one person, many people over come hardships and still get their final destination in life. Besides you didnt miss anything, this business isnt worth even going to trade school for.. If you like being underpaid and over worked and having 65k+ in tools then I guess you did miss the train.. Keep it a hobby….
