I just registered with this group hoping to find help as I try to restore my 1977 Dodge Warlock truck. I am in the process of starting on the truck cab doing some MIG welding and then getting it ready for some epoxy primer and then some quality high build primer. My question is this: I am changing colors from a green metallic to a black metallic and I was going to sand the green to a point to accept the epoxy primer. Can anyone suggest what paper grit I should start with and finish with before I epoxy prime. The cab is in great shape with a few minor scratches that can be easily fixed with some light sanding. There are no dents or dings anywhere. Any additional information will be a big help. Thanks!

If the paint is in decent shape sand with 180-220.

Yes the paint is in real good shape after 36 years. I was going to start with 120 grit but finish with 180 but your suggestions makes sense. Thanks!
