Might be working with this paint system in the near future, just wondering how difficult are the nexa autocolor products to spray? From what ive heard, the paint dosent blend all that great and most of the products are very thick.
I havent had a chance to try this stuff out yet, just wanted to get the scoop on it. Im used to spraying sikkens (autowave) which has been very good, havent had too many problems (if any), and its very user friendly. Wondering how much harder this stuff will be to spray than sikkens…June 24, 2011 at 7:10 am #31424
It is a high end product, you should not notice a big differnce.
well for u old technology guys it probably is :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :deadhorseJune 24, 2011 at 6:36 pm #31433Just to be sure, are you talking about the old solvent Autocolor line, or the waterborne Aquabase?
If you’re backtracking from Autowave to Autocolor that makes no sense at all  . Water is the way to go.
If you’re talking about Aquabase It is the sister system to Envirobase, they are the same paint system only relabeled as far as I can tell. I’ve even talked to people who have intermixed toners from both systems with no repercussion. Having used both Nexa and EHP in trade school and EHP in my day to day work for the last 3 years I can assure you they both perform very well in pretty well all aspects. Anyone on here spraying water will tell you if you’re not on Autowave, you better be on EHP/Aquabase.

June 25, 2011 at 12:17 am #31437As above – do you mean the aquabase?
If so then I’ve shot a few hundred gallons of the stuff, and is isn’t half bad. It isn’t the most user friendly water base I’ve used (that accolade goes to DeBeer 900), but I got along with it well enough.
I can give you a bit more info if that is indeed the product you mean.
June 25, 2011 at 3:25 am #31440Oh shit son, if you’re up here then it’s Aquabase for sure. It blends pretty good IMO. just follow the tech sheets specs and you’ll be all good. Just out of curiosity why are you going to be working less with Autowave and more with Aquabase?
I learned how to spray water with Nexa Aquabase. We switched from Nexa Autocolor (solvent) at that time. Their water is a very solid product! Good overall color-match. Above average coverage. and it is not difficult to blend. Follow the rep/training instructions, and you will be fine… Sikkens and Nexa have had their water out there in Europe for a long time, and have most of the bugs worked out. Very user friendly IMO, but I don’t understand why you guys would switch from Sikkens to Nexa. Cost is comparable, and even in my short time using Autowave, it is a superior product. :cheers
June 25, 2011 at 11:44 pm #31447I figured as much….be careful with your decision, you will find that kind of thing in every shop no matter how big or small.Talk to your boss first and test the water, let him know your thoughts and maybe things can change…going to work at the shop down the road isn’t always the answer(been there done that) sometimes the grass isn’t always greener on the other side 😉 Good luck and keep us posted on your decision.
