Here is a bumper I did for a friend of a friend. The car has been in a front end accident before and has had paint work around the car. It is dented up and dinged all around, so I didn’t feel the “pressure” but nonetheless I treated the job as I would any other.

I didn’t get any “before” pictures because I was anxious to get it all swapped out. I also repainted the grille. I just rattle canned it with some rattle can clear, it was so badly faded and varnished before. It didn’t take more then a half hour.

I did get a considerable amount of OP on a few spots of the bumper, I cut and buffed the whole bumper and needless the to say, it came out flat as can be and I am very happy. I did try out Sherwin Willams Ultra on this bumper and still topped it off with DC3000, not sure if it had some sort of reaction because it went on pretty smooth at first.

Anyways it turned out great after all was cut and buffed.

But from looking at your photos, I have to wonder what its like to have to mow your lawn in December…

What are you doing to prep the raw plastic? what grit sand? any adhesion promoters? and what kind of primer/sealer and is it just urethane or epoxy?

So I scuffed it with a maroone pad, next time I would either scuff with a gray pad or just put another coat of sealer because i had to sand down a few sanding scratches in my base, then re base those areas. it was no big deal, but just a step that is avoidable.

It is just Omni urethane 2k sealer

There are countless ways to properly prep a raw plastic bumper based on preference and products.

bondo likes to use a rusty sos pad, then wipes it down with keystone, no matter how many times we told him rubbing alchol, he gets confused easily.
