Lkq coatings have bought out a large distributer here and the sales guy is trying to get me to take an Octoral system as far as I know it’s the cheaper brother of Debeer although sales guy says it’s exactly the same product only different name to avoid 2 shops selling the same brand across the road from each other.

Anyone used it or know anything about it? If it truly is the same as debeer I’d be happy enough to take it on.
Lkq appear to be a massive company guy said he can’t get his head around the amount of products they have access to its supposed to be an American company any of you heard of them?

The sales guy is pretty much telling you the truth.

There are some differences between the product lines, but many of the products are exactly the same, just put into a different tin after manufacture. I’ve been using DeBeer for some years and occasionally when something has been out of stock we’ve been sent the Octoral equivalent.

EDIT: LKQ have been around for a while, although I’ve never really dealt with them. I hear they have just bought a large local distributor that we use occasionally.

LKQ is Huge in North America. They started out as a large group of salvage yards. then they stared buying aftermarket parts companies (keystone, etc) thats when they started getting inot paint distribution as Keystone was selling paint products. Then they purchased the Akzo stores. They just recently expended over into Europe.

After looking through the product list on site I was thinking some are same hs420 clear etc I wonder is the base the same as db 900+ or is it older 900?
They just bought the distributer over a month ago and must be pushing hard as the sales guy rang me to try sell system and I haven’t used them since last year they are pushing into new areas for customers and according to him they pretty much will not be beat on price as they buy massive quantities of products to keep price down will be interesting to see.

Both DeBeer base systems are essentially the same. They simply added 13 extra (stronger) tinters a couple of years ago, changed the packaging, and started calling it 900+
The rest of the system was unchanged 😉

Some time soon they are adding a few more colours to the rack, including a high strength white (thank God!), and removing some of the obsolete ones.

we have an octoral solvent scheme, DeBeer is considered about the best B grade system about ,our scheme does the job well except for the odd colour we cannot mix and have to use water and the odd one thats a bit out but usually adjustable

I have used lechler water but only on two small jobs as we too dont have a propper spray booth so drying was / is a problem as its a makeshift booth and not completely sealed it does tend to suck dirt in from the odd crack lol, saying that tho I found it dried pretty well on its own but it was warmer then ! I loved it and it matched very well too i think it was fiat cappuccino beige on a fiat 500
