    Hey Guys,

I need a little more advice. I’ve got my car project back together (didn’t scratch a thing when the engine went in the hole…weird), and for the past couple of days I’ve been getting the rest of the body ready for paint.

So after 10 hours riding the DA, I got the car to this point. The old paint as well as the original factory paint had to come off (the clear was peeling, some idiot painted over it…then this idiot had to strip it all to get to this…)

My question is this, I’ve got some bare metal areas that I was going to hit with epoxy, but the rest of the car is down to primers of various types from the factory. Should I just go over it all with my 2 part high build or should I seal it, then go over it with the high build.

Still a lot of blocking to do, but it doesn’t have to be laser straight.

    Looking good
Just me but I would hit it with a couple coats of DTM hi build block it out call it good.
Then again Im not a Volvo fan either.

No , to(fresh)epoxy under high build. Find a direct to metal highbuild or you’ll need to use an etch.

If you do use epoxy it needs to cure a long time till full cured and then be sanded for tooth prior to highbuild. :pcorn:

Depends on what brand you are using, but I would not sand epoxy. Most epoxies have a long re-coat window(u-tech or sikkens is 7 days)If you are worried about it let your epoxy flash for an hr or overnight(check tech sheet for your brand)then put on 3-4 coats of 2k.I would then long block it with 180 dry to make sure everything is straight, put on another 2-3 coats of high build primer and wet block it with 400-500 and paint it.Just depends how nice you want it,you could just use etch primer too.

That sounds like a plan. I should have the time tomorrow AM (I have to be in the office at noon – until late) to squirt on the epoxy, let it sit overnight and hit it with the 2K on Saturday. Then block it as you recommend and shot the colour Sunday/Monday depending on how things go.
