    Hi everybody,

I picked up a Leftover 2013 Dodge Dart a few months ago (still only has 4000 miles) and have a problem with the paint on the passenger side front fender. I contacted my Dodge dealer who took pictures and sent them to Dodge to see if they would repair the paint as we seemed to think the paint was peeling. I know that I did not hit anything and have no idea when anything may have hit fender and see no paint streaks where a car my have hit me.

So in the end I am attaching some pics and wanted some opinions from you all as to whether you think the paint is peeling or it is damage of some sort?

    Thanks for your voice.

    Joe

Looking at the pics on my phone, it looks like a nice scratch/scrape. Someone probably scraped the fender while you were parked. Unfortunately, stuff like that happens all the time.

I agree with Ben, I see that exact scratch in my neighborhood all the time, end of a shopping card handle or a bicycle or something like that. Im 99% sure, its not a defective paint job from the factory, and i highly doubt you can get Chrysler to cover it for you. Even if chrysler would cover it for you, I’d suggest checking some reputable shops outside of chrysler to fix it as well. I know alot of guys who do dealer work for chysler, and to put it nicely, I wouldn’t let them touch my car in a million years.
Good luck getting it sorted out.

    That is abrasion damage.

If the paint were peeling/delaminating, you would be able to pick the edges of the scratch up with your fingernail and the peel would keep going.

In fact, try that. If the paint edge won’t lift easily, then you’ll have your answer (and Dodge is not responsible).
