ITS a good tool ,most time when you flat runs out ,some how you manage to rub through around the run ,this way with the run tool. You only take of what you need .

What’s the name of that and where did you get it? I tried to google it and all I seem to get is the motor guard one. When I do get runs I normally use the finishing putty method to get them out but it seems like this tool might be a bit easier at times.

not that I ever get runs, but…

when I do have to fix them I usually use a regular razor blade then wrap a piece of 3/4″ tape around each end so I can file the run down, but not take anything off around it.

I wonder if this works basically the same.

It’s tough to see exactly what that tool is doing. Is it like a tiny plane?

I’ve not used the Festool branded one, but I have played with something very similar that one of my staff had, and they work very well.

Nelson – yes, it’s basically a flat plate of metal that planes off the high spots. I haven’t found one for myself yet, and use a single sided razor blade instead, but will be on the lookout for one of these.

They’re also great for knocking off large dirt nibs.

Where’d you get it from paintpot?

Powertec sell run razor’s, you can usually order powertec products through your local suppliers.

They are not the festool one, they come in an adjustable block so you can change the angle of the razor to match the shape of the affected area.

    Cheers Nick.

I didn’t really get along with that type though, but was really impressed by the flat type shown above. It didn’t look like it would do anything, but it got us out of a few sticky situations! The guy also had some miniature blocks from Meguiars. They looked like tiny pumice stones and were great at sanding out the final traces of a run, but I haven’t managed to source any of those either.

Good job I don’t get too many runs! (my finish is usually too dry for that :rofl )

I never get runs either

That looks pretty cool Paintpot. Not sure if we can get them in the states. Some Festool stuff is hard to come by here.

    Yep, that’s the one Ryan.

I’ve tried emailing Megs UK, but they don’t seem to understand what I mean, and keep talking about their unigrit paper.
