In light of the recent heat wave I thought that I would ask everyones tips on painting in this mess. Panel temps in the booth today were in excess of 98 degrees. I have been putting slow in everything and it still has been a bear. Learned first hand not to spray wax and grease on the panel then wipe it off, use the two rag technique and clean small areas or you will be sanding fisheyes out of your base like I did. Is their a temp that is considered to hot to paint in?
Thanks in advance
Chuck

Depending on what brand you’re using many companies offer ex-slow and even ex-ex-slow. Adding a hardener to the base coat (if compatible) may also work well.
There are guys in the PHX area painting daily at 120.
July 3, 2012 at 8:13 am #37568You are at the point now when you need extra slow for everything.Try to get your painting done in the morning before it gets too hot and maybe come in early if you can,its much better to come in at 5 or 6 and knock off at 2 or 3.I used to use extra slow reducer or a portion of utech 200 retarder(extra slow) in my base when it was that hot,and extra slow activator for the clear.
