According to the SATA website it is
I know we can still get the 3000 here in the UK. It seems to be marketed as a kind of budget alternative for those that can’t quite stretch to a 4K. They’ve re-branded it slightly by anodising it in blue.

November 17, 2012 at 4:23 am #39267i have try the 4000 with 1.3 slower than i spray with 3000 1.2. thats is why i want a 4000 with 1.4.smaller tip is good for couple panels, but for my work everyday is more than 5 panels each round.
November 17, 2012 at 4:49 am #39268It really depends on what products you are spraying for tip size. The 1.4 in the 4000 is not bad for larger jobs, but if you are spraying completes(like large trucks not smart cars) the first gen rp or a 3000 with a 1.4 is still the best for speed.
November 17, 2012 at 6:56 pm #39280i feel the same on the 4000,have been useing 1 4 clear 1.3 tip, plan on cleaning it and will list on ebay, have a 3000 rp 1.4 blue star eddition in the box collecting dust.non digtal.any one useing the adam digtal gauge, seems $$$$$
November 17, 2012 at 7:26 pm #39283The adam gauge works pretty good,I used one on my waterbrone 3000hvlp for awhile.I have a brand new in the box first version adam gauge,PM me if you are interested.
I am thinking I will be spraying SPI’s Universal Clear, and it sounds as though Barry thinks a RP gun with a 1.4 tip works best. I am not concerned so much about speed, so I suppose for me either the 3000 or 400 RP model gun would be just fine. I am normally painting 2-3 panels, but will from time to time, spray a complete. Maybe for me the 3000 would be better (and cheaper). Any ideas?
December 6, 2012 at 6:57 am #39701first gen is great. but i dont clear with it anymore, i use it for solid colors it covers in 1 or 1 and a half coats. the 4000 is my clear gun
