ya its strange. the metal quarter doesnt touch the inner structure. they have “spacers” that hold it about 3/8″ away. Guess thats why they use windshield urethane so it fills in that space. theres about 10 spot welds between the trunk drip and taillight pocket.

Looks good ding, ya ever find you have a different shade with the panels you spray vertical vs horizontal? do you spray a mist coat over after or does it just work out for ya?

looks nice dinger cept for that big ol fish eye to the left of your finger 😛 😛 luv the masking job on that one 😉 you are a true master on that what color ???

    Thanks guys.
I dont have much trouble with matches when spraying that way. I wouldnt do it on a tough color but this was a dark blue and not much issue there. i dont really drop coat the last coat but I dont like putting my base on really wet either.
The kid actaully masked this one up. he did a pretty good job. its amazin what he can do after a few tokes :stoned :stoned

    Nice Job Ding
what was the wait time for removing clamps 24 hr?

I’m starting to be a fan of Glues instead of welding

whats kinda wild is they glue it with windsheild urethane but if ya think about it that stuff is really strong when it cures out just try an push a winshield out without cutting it that stuff dont let go

Thats what I was thinking thats some tuff stuff! But its so flipping slow to cure the 3m super any way thats why I asked how long he had to leave it clamped up.

I bet thats part of why its so strong The slower the cure time the stronger the bond.
Thats what I have heard any way.

Believe it or not a lot of newer aircraft are mostly Glued together with similar adhesives and not just small aircraft but Large airliners too!
