sounds like I set my gun up very similar to Lild, do any of you guys ever cut your last coat with the t490? Im not even sure if its ok to do that ( had 1 painter told me not to) but I mixed up some 490 at 25-30% reduction and then just cut in with base 50/50 and I found it to orientate my metallics perfect. Would there be any reason a guy shouldnt do that, I did it on quite a few jobs already and I dont understand why that painter would have told me not to do it?

I use the exact copy of EHP called Nexa Autocolor. If the T490 is a clear adjuster/wetbed like i think it is than yes it is perfectly fine to cut it 50/50 for your blendoff.PPG actually recommends it. Sometimes on a trickey color i will lay down a wetbed and blend off with the clear adjuster. Its a must have for Tri-stage blends.

yep smooth that is exactly what it is, I find it helps lay down metallics effortlessly

yes i had did that way b4 on the side panels.it worked great on some hard to blend color.and i only had blothy on a hood. i think i will try on a hood, cuz i use this style on solvent paint, and im 100% sure i had no cloud at all.

Where are you located? If you are in a dry area (very little humidity) you will need the slow reducer. Typically two coats of color and one control coat is enough. 90% overlap. Your control coat should not be wet and look more like 320 grit droplets until it is dry. Remember BIG OVERLAP.

Crex I have found mixing the 490 with 494 ESP version of dbc 500. Put that down as a wet bed & lit does help with some metallics.
