so whats the difference between DBC and Global I know Global is more expensive but It seems more Peeps use DBC the local jobber say the ones using global have switched to Envirobase(water)

all the tech sheets I have seen they dont say what the difference is besides one is for pros and high production shops and the other for fleet/rental repair and not so smart painters (so they say)

I was wondering if some of the tints and toners were compatible like using global pearls in Deltron clear

I never found a difference between the 2 except for cost, they spray the same IMO.The global primers suck compared to k38,and the clear 894 was nice but no better than concept 2021 which was one of my favorite clears back in the day.

As far as I understand, they are basically the same systems. Just that the chemistry behind the Global is supposed to be slightly better. That is…the Global products may be slightly more durable/more resiliant/last slightly longer. PPG gives a lifetime warranty on the Global, I think Deltron may be 5 years

I know most of the products are compatible with each other (this is from the PPG rep)

you get a lifetime on both. as far is i know deltron or dbc is for the states and dries fast, as putted to me, we’re in too much of a hurry. the global dries a bit slower, and i belive has more colors(toners). i’ve tried their euro clear once and it took twice a long to dry. aqua and enviro are also the same.

so you all think its safe to use the global pearls in the DBC mixing clear for a mid coat?

    October 19, 2010 at 2:27 am #24358

yep you could if you want. have looked at ppg’s viberance pearls?

Ive used Global in the past for about 3 yrs. Loved the 894 clear, cant stand the base. Color matches suck bad! I currently am using dbc, color matches are pretty darn good and havent had any problems other than the modeling issues. And both do offer a lifetime warranty. Im not a ppg fan, but I think dbc is the better system.

ya I looked at the vibrance pearls but at $30.00 a 6oz bottle to play with I decided to bid on some global pearls on ebay and got 10 8oz bottles of different color pearls for $76.00

Im going to get the Vibrance pearls after I use this global crap up. practice with the cheap crap save the good stuff for customers

that’s a smart ideal. but i got you beat on the vibrance price. maybe the bottles i have may be bigger or maybe the price has droped, i will have to look into that. i know when they first released them, and are used more in the newer oem colors, i was paying 115 a bottle.
one time we did a caddy, body cut in the parts needed. useid a harliqence bottle 350 a peice. yeah i didn’t know about the cost untill after i oreder the 2nd bottle and painted the car. i threw a fit. and you know what the damn insurance comp. didn’t want to pay for it.
by the way i still have some.
