Was wondering if anyone here has had much experience with any of the digital air pressure regulators that are out? I have Devilbiss hav501 on all of my guns but I was really considering changing my gauge on my base gun to a digital to ensure I am spraying all my panels at the same pressure.
I have been spraying a lot of my panels off the vehicles when I paint them and my booths are to small to be able to hang all the parts in the same booth. So i am always concerned with mismatch issues when the doors go back on the vehicle.

I have found the devilbiss digital gauge to work pretty good and be pretty accurate.I have them on my teknas and have found them to perform very well with base.

it isnt supreme acuracy you require it is consistant readings you need ,dont matter of your traditional guage is 5 psi out as long as it is consistantly 5 psi out ,the trouble with digital guages is when they play up the can become inconsistant where a traditional guage is actualy more reliable in this respect ,all in all you dont need hyper acurate gun guages just consistant ones

far better are under gun diaphragm regulators as restrictor types create surging if your line pressures are high

I agree with artspray, the best regulator I’ve used was an RTi MR-1 diaphragm one. It took me ages to find one in the UK though and then someone dropped it and broke the gauge :headsmack:

change the guage then ,they are usualy 1/8 BSP as standard 😉

had an Iwata rep. tell me concerning the RTI regulator that you should have it turned all the way down before connecting an air line to it. I try to do this but I was wondering if this was important or not.

I never turned mine down like that and it seemed to work ok 🙂

I did order a replacement gauge but I didn’t check the size – it was massive 😆 Pictures are deceiving on ebay!

Must try and find where I’ve left it and put it back into service somehow.

cant see a reason for it myself ,however if we want to get pedantic the best thing is to connect the gun direct to the hose with no QD and set things up off the wall to avoid loss of CFM

😆 don’t know if I’m being pedantic about it but I do use HVLP fittings and open my gun and regulator up all the way and adjust pressure on the wall using my regulator as a guage only. Yes I did have to look up “pedantic”.

i didnt mean you lol i was generalising hehe

I use the RTI one as mentioned about, I like it because it holds your pressure ans avoids that huge amount of pressure you get with other gauges.

i’ve been using “cheater” valve style air regulators for years without problem. I have a diaphragm regulator on the wall that is set about 20psi lower than the shop air to allow even pressure when the shop air fluctuates. i like the digital gauge that came with my tekna and am going to get one for my sata rp.
