Hi All!
I have read up on this quite a bit, as well as watch a gazillion videos. I am just wondering if there is anything you would change from this process I have set for myself. Any advice would be much appreciated!
[b]
tape off areas needed to be painted (3) (DO THIS FIRST even though videos don’t, you can always put on new tape/prints)make sure bumper is washed
clean off excess anything with a degreasersand around the dent with 180 grit & sanding block
use degreaser to wipe way excess shitspray on adhesion promoter
mix your bondo with hardener (1 pea sized hardener) – DONT USE ON CARDBOARD)
apply over dent (in my case all 3 rubs)
wait 5-10 minutes to dry
sand off with 180 again w/ sanding block – needed to ‘shape’ bondorefine 180 scratches with 320 just past the 180 scratches (sanding block not needed)
take off excess shit with degreaser
apply adhesion promoter again
spray on primer medium to wet (3 coats with 5 mins between coats) – keep within 320 scratchesgo over with finishing paper (600 grit) – needs to go over 320 scratches
scuff again with a grey scuff padgo over again with degreaser and rag, THEN use your tack cloth as the base coat will be next
spray on base coat light to medium – more thin coats is better than a run if put on a thick coat – 5 mins between coats
(If you spray it on too thick the primer can lift and you have to start over again)wait 20 minutes before applying clear coat (3 coats of clear at least)
(5-10 minutes between each coat, or tacky to the touch on masking taped area)

Remove bumper from vehicle.
Strip off all parts.
Wash bumper with detergent and pressure washer.
Do any manipulation or plastic welding.
Sand repair area with 180. (Always best to leave as much original paint on as possible, filler bonds better with this than plastic)
Apply filler where needed.
Sand filler (80grit is ok for the actual filler, try not to rip up the plastic though) follow with 120 then 180 over repair area.
Red scotchbrite repair area and a few inches all around.
3 costs of medium wet primer with appropriate flash off.
Once dry, sand primer with 320, followed by 600.
1000 grit and grey scotchbrite any blend areas.
Base and clear as normal. - AuthorPosts
