Hi all,
A guy I work with is building himself a streetfighter style Honda Fireblade. I don’t have a picture of the actual bike, but it’s this kind of thing:

After doing him countless sprayouts in various flat, gloss, solid & pearl blacks, he’s changed his mind and wants to have the plastics white (now that I’ve already primed some of them in black! :wak )
So I’m looking for some suggestions. Ideally an OE colour that I can mix from a regular paint scheme, rather than anything too fancy (did I mention he’s a cheapskate? :lol1 )
One I’m fancying at the moment it Mazda 34K, Crystal White Pearl, which has an slightly off white base, with a gold & white Xirallic over the top. Pops nicely in the sun but is tending a bit towards yellow for my liking. I’m going to do a few cards, leaving out the gold pearl and maybe adding a bit of blue pearl instead, but do you guys have any ideas on a brighter, whiter alternative?
Cheers,
Andy.August 8, 2011 at 11:24 pm #32200ok for the most purest, brightest white just base everything out in pure white base, no toners then a really light coat of xirillic white pearl over and your done. keep the pearl to a minimum. i attached a pic of a bike i did like that. not that you can really see the color on a computer monitor but it gives you an idea anyway. its nice and sparkly and very pure white.

Like you say, I can’t really make the colour out, but I’ll certainly give that a try.

August 9, 2011 at 4:24 am #32207LOL…..Mazda 34K Crystal White Pearl!! I painted my 2011 ZX-10R in it last week (variant 1). You might want to add some matting base to the effect layer to get the pearl to be coarser. I didn’t do it, but wished I had:

The toyota was the first one that came to my mind. very clean and doesm’t do yellow on you. That Mazda one is decent as well
August 9, 2011 at 8:34 am #32214That looks great Paintwerks. For some reason it looks whiter than the picture Jim’s posted on my screen. Maybe it’s just the contrast against the black, as I’ve done a couple of Mazda’s in that colour lately and they were both a tiny bit yellow in the sun.
Thanks for the suggestions guys, looks like I’ll be spraying out a few colours today :rock
August 9, 2011 at 10:35 am #32217
you could always leave out the gold pearl
Did you read the first post? 😛 :lol1Tried a few this morning and I’m really liking the bright white as per Jim’s suggestion. I’ll see which the guy prefers when he gets here.

Well the guy like the bright white pearl too, so at least he’s decided at last! Might be a few weeks before I get around to doing them but I’ll pop some pictures up (if they turn out ok  )
Thanks for all the help.
August 10, 2011 at 5:01 am #32240its just the pic. You really cant go by any pics. Gotta see it in person. you cant get any whiter than pure white. Anything you add to white is going to dirty it to some degree…assuming thats what you are looking for.
