Hey guys just wondering if i can get some tips or ideas about reducing compressor noise and paint fumes. I do alot of jobs at home in the shed, The shed used to be used as storage for old cloths and boxes of old stuff as well as my painting, i used to just cover everything with a tarp before spraying.
A few days ago ive started emptying the garage out and transferring all the stuff that isnt needed in there into another shed so i can have a cleaner environment for spraying.
Now the issue is, Sine its almost empty in there, The compressor and spray noises are about 3 or 4 times louder, as there isnt anything in here to absorb the sound anymore, and the paint fumes are ALOT stronger, probably for the same reason?
Now my plan is to line all the tin walls with some Plaster Board and im also building a custom prep unit that will consist of 2 x high powered exhaust fans with some proper booth filtering in front.
Is this going to help me or is there special lining that i need to use along the walls to reduce the noise and smells?

I’m a sound guy – just remember foam absorbs high frequencies, and mass/rigidity deadens low frequency vibration. You’ve got to find out what is transferring the sound and stiffen it up. heavy plywood on the walls is a good start. Also it’s good to route the compressor intake outside – it is responsible for a fair amount of the noise.
for smell… good luck with that one. solvents go right through almost everything. fans will be the answer to that one.
