What are you guys doing with plastic bumpers that come back stone-chipped to hell. I’m feeling a bit guilty with my current fill them with primer tactic, anyone have some input. And just to be clear, I’m talking about the ones that you strip down with say 180 down to the plastic and find the chips are right into the plastic itself.

I’m with you on that one. 180 and prime. then maybe seal before base to fill some more. Or just charge em for a new bumper with no stone chips

If you prime those bumpers with epoxy primer first
after a good adhesion promoter for the raw plastic
it will eliminate most of those chips.
Some epoxies don’t stay flexible so you may need a
flex agent added, depending on the epoxy.B)

Ya, but I guess either way I’m filling stone chips with primer. One odd thing about the RM line is that they don’t supply a flexible epoxy, I don’t think glasurit does either.

I believe you can just add regular flex agent to your epoxy.
I use Bulldog adhesion/flex agent and it seems to be compatible
    with all paints and primers.:)

Yep a flexible epoxy is the only way to go brother. I use the spi epoxy because of its ability to flex soo well and it does not turn into concrete once full cure is reached..

All the way down to plastic, I use adhesion promoter, epoxy and I fill the chips with flexible 2 part putty.. Then seal it all in epoxy bc/cc.. I have 2 of my vehicles done like this and so far so good.. One of them is working on its 4th year and it does not have any stone chips.. Sounds crazy but its true..

The last one I did with the spi epoxy was the 338000 mile dodge.,. It has incurred some stone chips already, but it has not chipped all over, just 3 placs so far with maybe 7000 miles maybe 10,000
