hi im new to the forum and also new to annything to do with automotive. i have a 2002 pontiac montana bought it last year really had no choice in buying it. ive had minor problems with it but fixed most. van runs great and all but my problem is the rockers pinch weilds are rusted. i mean rusted 2 fist size holes one by drivers side front door other by the rear back of the passangers side. i went to a body shop and thay wanted close to a grand to fixe it. i dont have that kind of money and winters is comming up fast so i had an idea and i want to hear what others have to think of it. i want to plug the holes with steel wool i want to coat the hell of the pinch weilds and the rockers and all round thos areas with POR15. then put some kind of think stone chip or somekind of think rubber bed linner and sand to smooth it out add more if needed till it looks proper to an eyeballs view. will it hold for a couple of years till i can save up to get the body work done or am i screwed.

Thats a pretty crude way of repairing a structural area to be honest.

You should be able to get the ares welded properly and coated in underseal for a good price, if you cant quite afford to have them repainted to match the rest of the truck.

I would give that approach a couple of months. Cut out the rusted metal and weld new metal.
